Rainy-days are hiking days!

A perfect damp Dozer-derp! We did a really cold misty-rainy hike with the dogs today, and finished on the banks of the river.

Very-Dozer-day

I have to take back my comment this morning about Dozer gaining brains. I took him and Tali for a hike in the park solo this afternoon and while he walked really well on the way out, as soon as we turned around he became a nightmare of pulling and lunging and being baddog. We were about to head back to the car when we ran into a really handsome 8-month old Berner pup named Max. He was about the same size and build as Dozer is at almost 2! And much better behaved! Definitely think I have the freaky outlier. I still love my boy, but it has been a bit of a frustrating day and my knee is sore from Doz slamming into me in one of his hyper-excited jerk-dog scrambles. (blue bandana is the baby, front of pic is Dozer)

Post-hike

You can tell we wore Dozer out good today! He always turns into super-snuggler when he is really tired.  And this pose is all his idea btw- he sits on me then flings himself backward into a slo-mo backward slide.

Deer Lick trail

Nice 3-4 mile hike at Deer Lick and the Buckeye Trail w dogs. Managed to get back to the car just 5 minutes after the rain started. I haven’t been to Deer Lick since I was a kid I think, made for a fun hike.

Basking

Tali is a big fan of sun. Apparently she also has a solar panel on her undersides.

Park

Did a nice little couple-mile hike in the park with the dogs while Brian did his run. Think we wore them out pretty good! We visited Kodo's overlook briefly too, though the littles were so busy eating acorns that I couldn't really focus on the moment.

Sleeping bag test

Made the mistake of putting the new sleeping bag on the floor so I could test it out. Before I even had a chance to lie down all the way, I had a Doozle pillow, and Tali was curled up on my side. Almost as good as a real bed! Apparently it has the Bernese Mountain Dog seal of approval at least. And yet another good reason not to get a down bag – the thing is already covered with dog slobber. :/

Pestering

The funniest thing about this picture, is that I have the exact same pose from maybe five years ago shortly after Tali came home, but in that one Tali was the annoying, poke-y little sib and Kodo was the long-suffering elder. Now the roles are reversed! Though I seriously doubt Tali ever managed to annoy Kodo as much as Dozer annoys her considering she was half his weight!

New 'friend'

Dozer just tried to eat a stink bug. Then spat it out and shook his head in disgust. And now he is staring at the soppy wet bug as it sits on the step, and is plotting revenge? I dunno.
