Revisiting an old friend

I dug out one of Kodo's old favorite stuffies from storage- his stretchy-golden. He has actually gotten gentler with them than he used to be- he still gnaws and shakes from side to side, but he doesn't try to rip off mouthfuls of its fur anymore.. :)

First deep snow?

We woke up this morning to 8-10 inches of snow on the ground, drifted to over a foot in places. Kodo thought we was in heaven! He has kept asking to go out all morning because he loves it so much. He snowplows with his whole head and comes up with a snow mask, then bounds from drift to drift like a bunny. And he pounces on snowflakes that move in a suspicious manner. And he chases snowballs when you throw them for him. :) He is lots of fun to watch!!

NYE party

We were having about 20 people over on New Year's Eve, and not all of them are crazy dog people like us, so we had decided to keep Kodo in the morning room (playpen) for a while to let him calm down before letting him out to go visiting. There he can see and smell people, and they can talk to him if they want, but he can't pursue people who aren't interested in puppy-love... Kodo knows his commands and 'proper' behavior, but he LOVES new people, and he can sometimes get so excited he does socially unacceptable things like jumping at people or goosing them with his nose. Or even if he is being good he can cause bruises just by wagging too hard. :)

So we implemented Plan Prison-Puppy for about the first 45 minutes. Kodo had calmed down a bit by then, and we had about 10-12 people in the house. So we gave fair warning, and opened the gate to let him out. And he was really very good the rest of the evening! Only one little jump, and a couple inappropriate nosings, but not nearly as overexcited as he usually is.. He did end up crashing in his crate toward midnight, but each time somebody left, he came out to the door to say goodbye and get petting from them before crashing in his crate again.

We ended up getting to bed around 4:30 am, and he (and we) were complete slugs the next day. I think he only got up for meals and a couple outside breaks. :)

Miscellaneous Christmas Eve pics

Kodo got to meet his Auntie Liz from California for the first time over the holiday. He really took to her, and she seemed to be rather fond of him too..

And of course Kodo and his furry aunt Daphne got some good romp-and-play time in while the rest of us were unwrapping Christmas presents.. This pic was taken during one of their rare rest breaks.
