D decided to start serenading us around 6:20 this morning. Wonder how you explain 'weekend' to a puppy? It wasn't a "I hafta go out NOW!" bark, more "I am awake and I am bored- entertain me!" whine/yelp combo. And then T decided to make it a duet. *eyeroll* We had decided last night to try to push back the wakeup time by ignoring the noise. I called 'Settle!' over the railing and they chilled out for about 40 minutes till I started moving around too much upstairs. Baby steps (no pun intended)! At least it won't be as hard to shift back into my work-week routine if I am getting up around 7 even on weekends!
Our usual morning routine involved letting T and K out of the the morning room. T would race around a bit with one of her disgust-a-balls in her mouth to settle herself. and K would flop on the tile somewhere else after his morning ear-rubs (NOT a morning dog!). Since D has joined us, the beginning part of the routine remained the same but as soon as I let HIM out he would go after T and grab the other end of her disgust-a-ball to try to get her to play. She just dropped the toy and let him take it away it with a sad sheep face.
This morning however, she kept hold of the ball and they had a little head-shaking tug going on. Her head was up and her tail was wagging. Didn't last very long, but definitely a hopeful sign. I hope. :)
