And then there were THREE!

Since Kodo is getting up there in age and Tali doesn't deal well as an only dog, we started looking into getting a 3rd dog to add to our household.  K's breeder wasn't breeding anymore and I really prefer rescue when possible, so we put in an application at our local Bernese breed club rescue division in January.  Weren't expecting anything to happen quickly since we had rather specific needs to make sure the third dog would fit well with our current two.

Last week we got an email from the rescue coordinator saying they had a 5-month-old puppy who had been an owner-surrender, were we interested?  We started the process of home visit and meetup to make sure everybody was cool with each other. And on Monday 4/10, we became a 3-Berner household.

Meet Dozer (formerly Scooter), typical puppy with a very sweet disposition, tons of puppy energy, and little shark teeth (also pretty typical puppy!  :D ).  He got his name since he managed to nearly take out 2 lamps in his first 10 minutes in the house.  He is about 50-55 pounds estimated and seems to have no sense whatsoever of his size or where his paws are at any given moment.  Which is absolutely adorable, until he plants a paw in the middle of the water dish and soaks the kitchen floor for the third time in 10 minutes. :D  He is gonna be an adventure, no doubt about that!

We arranged our schedules the first week to trade off puppy-watching duties and will plan on easing back into our regular schedules starting next week. It is a bit of an adjustment for everyone- Tali isn't used to having to share her toys (Dozer is a toy FIEND- emptied the toybox into the family room in his first day, one toy at a time), Kodo isn't used to having his face stepped on when he is napping, Kimi (cat) isn't used to someone who isn't wary around her when she siren-mews at them, and WE are out of practice at puppy energy!  :)  Once everyone gets used to each other I think things will fall into a nice routine though- he seems to be very smart, quick to learn, and very anxious to please so once we break through the puppy ADD he is going to be the best boy!

We will try to journal a bit more frequently with our adventures (and LOTS more pictures) as this goes along- so welcome Dozer to the family!

Despite the fact that he is only 5 months old, he is almost exactly the same size, height, and weight as our 5-yr-old midgeling (Dozer on left, Tali on right):

But he is AAAAALLLL puppy!
