Tired out?
Four days straight of running, with yesterday being a hilly 5K virtual race with me- and I think she might actually be a little worn out. Well, at least we now know what it takes!

Family Christmas part 2
Package-sniffing. Sadly, this package was not addressed to the Bernese Mountain Dogs. :(
But belly-rubs from Grandpa soon put that out of Tali's mind.
Kodo photo-bomb! Cuz every picture is improved with a little tricolor in it. Front and center. You can tell he thinks he is the handsome-est thing around- just look at the smile on his face!

Presents!
First I got Tali a new collar. I had seen these at Grateful Dog Bakery, and even though I am not usually a fan of pink or flowery stuff, this collar was definitely her.
"But mommy, I can't unwrap it! No opposable thumbs!"

Happily chewing their antlers together:
But wait!! Kodo's antler looks MUCH tastier than Tali's!!
Piggy has stolen ALL the toys!

Tired puppy
Ran 2.25 miles with daddy this morning in the semi-flooded metroparks, and now too tired to pick her head up. This will only last for 10-15 minutes, but still.. :)

Soppy-wet drowned rat of a Berner
She went for a run with Brian in the monsoon. These pics were taken AFTER I went through two towels trying to dry her. No idea where all the water is sticking- not like she has a lot of fur to sop it up.. Her tail was wagging the entire time of course- she was having the best time!

Weird, WEIRD little dog
Or did I already use that title? :)
Anyway..
I had just finished my run and decided to sit on the floor. Almost instantly, I obtained a tiny Bernese Mountain lapdog. Who proceeded to lick my calf and shin over and over again for 2-3 minutes straight. I am assuming she was interested in the salt? I was laughing too hard to try to stop her. She has done similar things to socks in the past. Definitely a fitting successor to Weeble, who was notorious for spending 5 minutes licking a wool sweater at one point.

Bloopers
Trying to get a serene family photo in the snowy woods turns into Kodo falling asleep on the ground and Tali jumping off her bench, tying herself around a tree, and gnawing on a sapling. I would have better luck herding chipmunks.
Some more park
Trying to get Tali to look across the river so we both look like we are gazing into the distance contemplatively. She, however, can't seem to take her eyes off THE CHEESE!
And yes, in this pic Tali was stuck UNDER Kodo. She walked under his tummy and just stood there while Brian snapped. Oh well, at least everyone was looking roughly the same direction.

Turkey
When Tali lies down to chew a bone she lies with her back legs stretched out behind her. Never seen a Berner do that before! Her back end looks so much like a turkey with a tail, that she got a couple new nicknames, including "Chicken Legs". If you look at these pictures from the waist down, I am sure you will see the resemblance. :)

Apple thief
So there was a bag of apples (6-8 of them) that had been sitting on the counter for a couple weeks. Didn't think much about it, till Brian came down for work and found the bag on the floor and the apples having met a grisly fate down to the next-to-last fruit. Now I need to add here that there is perhaps a 2-hour window between the time I feed the dogs, pet and play with them, let them out, then leave and the time Brian comes downstairs. So in a two-hour period, with her tummy already full of breakfast, the munchkin decided to go counter surfing. If am sure Kodo helped with the slaughter once the apples were already on the floor- he is only human canine after all, and apple pieces are one of the favorite snacks for both of them. But still, pretty impressive consumption capabilities. AND a cast iron stomach- nobody seems to have gotten the slightest bit sick from all this.
Tali and I had a serious conversation that evening about how, now that she is nearly two years old and a mature adult, this silliness must become a thing of the past. She was smiling, wiggling, and panting up at me the whole time I was lecturing her, and leaning on me for butt-scratches so that means she listened to every word and took it to heart. Right.....? :)

Cats and Christmas Trees
Pippin poses:
Kimi flosses.
Note there are no ornaments in the bottom two feet of the tree. There is a very good reason for that. Four good reasons to be exact.

Snowy morning
Bitey-face!
Notice who is actually doing the chasing here. Yup, that is right. The teeny shy one. :)
