The catch!!

Another new trick?

The other day I offered Kodo a greenie and he was so excited that he did something different as a behavior to try to get the treat. So I attached a word to it, and have him about halfway taught to do it on command now.

I put him in a sit, hold out my hand and say "Shake" and he puts his right paw in my hand. Then I tell him "beg" and using the paw in my hand for a brace and balance, he puts his other front paw on top of the first one and "sits up"! For those of you with smaller dogs, this may not sound too impressive, but remember than Bernese Mountain dogs are REALLY not built for that sort of thing! :)

Squirrel !!!!!...

We just got around to watching the movie "Up!" a couple weeks ago, and we decided that Dug, despite the fact that he looks golden retriever-ish, is Kodo to the life. And today when I saw Kodo trying to make up to his new best friend, it reminded me so much of Dug's catch-phrase. I managed to get a video of Kodo trying to play with Mr. Squirrel who had just woken up from his winter nap and was trying desperately to remember where he had buried his acorns last fall.
This video is only a sample- imagine about 10 minutes of wagging, panting, bouncing, play-bowing, and boofing to try to get the squirrel's attention. Squirrel knew he was there too, but didn't seem phased- maybe smart enough to know Kodo was on the other side of a fence and couldn't get to him?
