Distinguished gentleman

Don't remember exactly what prompted this. But the tie is a Bernese Mountain tie (in colors at least), so it was a perfect fit.

Buddies

Weeble and Kodo have been getting chummier lately. Weebs has taken to waiting for Kodo when Kodo is outside. He will sometimes put his front paws up on the inside of the door so he and Kodo can touch noses through the glass. He still won't snuggle and sleep with Kodo like Pip will, but still..

New tricks..

Kodo has two new tricks in his repertoire..
"Boof" is a silent bark. That was a little tricky to teach since when he barks naturally, silent just isn't in the cards! :)
"Bear rug". Lie down with chin on the floor and paws to either side. This one he does naturally, so it was just a matter of capturing the behavior, rewarding it, then attaching a word to it...


We also got his carting harness in the mail last Wednesday. I wanted to get the harness separately so we could start getting him used to that before we got the cart involved. I was expecting him to have more problems, since he tends to be a little squirrelly about things dragging behind him or noises behind him in general, but he has actually gotten used to the harness very quickly, and I have had him walking through the house on leash dragging cardboard boxes behind him by the traces. Probably not the approved way to teach, but we are kinda improvising (being very careful that nothing hits him in the rear and scares him of course). Next thing will be to simulate the cart shafts by sticking poles or sticks through the harness loops. Then we can actually order him a cart!

Cave bear

We brought Kodo home as a 40-ish pound puppy. One of the first things he did in the new house was to walk under our glass-topped coffee table to chew his rawhide. Apparently this stuck with him, since even though he is now 120 pounds, he still thinks of under the coffee table as his own personal cave. Even though he now needs to crawl on his belly to get into or out...
